Libraries, catalogs, and interlibrary loan
For materials not available at Mugar
The resources in linguistics (especially with respect to journals) at the Boston University libraries are limited. Interlibrary loan is available through Mugar Library for materials not owned by the university. You can now place interlibrary loan requests over the Internet.
Boston Library Consortium (BLC)
Boston University is a member of the BLC. Most BLC member libraries are open to on-site use by patrons of other member libraries. Member libraries include Boston College, Boston Public Library, Brandeis University, Brown University, Marine Biological Laboratory - Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, MIT, Massachusetts State Library, Northeastern University, Tufts University, University of Massachusetts / Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth, and Lowell, University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Wellesley College, and Williams College. If your work requires extensive use of materials not available at Boston University, you may qualify for a Boston Library Consortium (BLC) card which will enable you to borrow materials from another BLC library. Further information is available at Mugar Library. The Boston Library Consortium Web Gateway will allow you to connect to all BLC library homepages and catalogs. In addition, the gateway provides access to the BLC Union List of Serials, which shows which libraries hold journal titles and specific issues of journals; and to Ingenta, a journal service that allows free on-line access to journals and their tables of contents. (See also http://www.mlin.lib.ma.us/ for more information about local libraries.)
